Data Collection & Reporting

In the past, our subsidiaries collected environmental data without centralized coordination. This produced inconsistent data and made facility-to-facility comparisons problematic. The solution was a set of uniform, automated protocols for environmental metric measurement and reporting. Smithfield rolled them out for use across the company in 2007. In the years since, our reporting has continued to expand in scope, due to optimized data collection systems and our efforts to align our reporting metrics with the Global Reporting Initiative’s G3 Guidelines.
